Join Castlegar’s Coldest Night of the Year walk on Saturday

Castlegar community members will brave the cold and join together to raise awareness and funds for those impacted by homelessness on Saturday.

The Coldest Night of the Year fundraising event will begin at Castlegar United Church at 809 Merry Creek Road at 4 p.m. on Feb. 28.

Opening remarks and participant’s muster will take place at 4:45 p.m. followed by the start of the two-or-five kilometre walks. A light meal will be served at 6 p.m. and the event ends at 7 p.m.

Since launching in Castlegar, the event has raised over $139,000. This year, Castlegar Community Services has set a goal of $23,000, topping last year’s $22,000 total.

You can support the event in a number of ways:

• Walk with a team or on your own.

• Donate directly to support local programs.

• Volunteer on event day.

• Become a business sponsor.

“This is more than a walk,” says CCS executive director Reidun Rosi. “It’s a statement of compassion, solidarity, and local action.”
