Castlegar Community Connections event taking place Nov. 17

A free community connections event at the Castlegar and District Community Complex will bring people and service providers together on Monday, Nov. 17. The event is hosted by Castlegar Community Services, Columbia Basin Alliance for Literacy (CBAL), and IRIS (Increasing Recreation Involving Seniors) and will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The family-friendly event is open to everyone and will include a free lunch and live entertainment as well as children’s activities, a community art activity and door prizes.

More than 30 services will be showcased at the event and people can browse the provider’s tables and interactive displays in a casual manner to learn more about what they offer. You can also chat with staff from various organizations, pick up some free winter wear, get support with filling out subsidy forms, access take-home resources and even get a haircut.

The winter clothing drive is sponsored by Kalesnikoff Lumber and The Red Chair and Jagged Edge Salon are providing the hair cuts.

Participants include Better At Home (seniors services), COINS, child and youth mental health, Service Canada, Victim Services, City of Castlegar, Kootenay Family Place, Kootenay Career Development, The Skills Centre, Fire Department, Library, Mental Health and Substance Use, Interior Health (Allied Health Dental Program, Early Psychosis Intervention, and Public Health), Kootenay Boundary Patient Advisory Committee, Kootenay Society for Community Living, MLA’s office, Women’s Outreach and many more.
